And until we figure out how to make the reply buttons in English, here's a guide:

';Svar'; means Reply.

';Citat'; means Quote.

';Editera'; is Edit (it's actually what we call Swenglish, because it's not Editera is not a word in Swedish.

';Radera'; means Erase (not sure if you have that feature, but I do.

Above those you will see a menu with the following buttons:

';Ny tr&aring;d'; means new post/thread

';Mina inst&auml;llningar'; means My profile

';Mina inl&auml;gg'; means My posts

';S&ouml;k'; means Search

';Forum hem'; means Forum home and you press that to see all the Forums.

Swordfish 2010

Swordfish 2010 is a cooperation between GHFS and several other Swedish HEMA groups. It will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden (as usual), November 5-7. As always we will use the Aktiviteten facilities which means you will train, compete, live, sleep eat&#160; and drink all under the same roof.

You can arrive on the 4th but unfortunately you can not sleep onsite between the 7th and the 8th, so if you wish to stay an extra day or so you need to ask one of the Gothenburgers if you can stay with them or find a hostel or hotell (suggestions can be found on the Swordfish website).

This years classes are being arranges right now, so watch this space for updates on instructors and the classes they will teach and lectures that will be held.

Competitions planned for this year are: dussack, rapier, mixed wapons (longsword, sword buckler, sword dagger) and steel feder longsword. The competitions will be spread out during the event, with finals taking place on Saturday evening after the regular schedules end, so everybody will be able to watch and cheer.

for more info go to the Swordfish website http://www.ghfs.se/swordfish

Note, the info on the site concerning schedule, instructors, price etc. is still from last year, however info on location, travel, hotel and such is of course still valid.

Hope to see you in November!

Hello my friends from GHFS, so far I&#160;am a little lost on the forum because of my really good dominance of swedish; anyway, could you help me to find where should I registrate for swordfish and where could I look for some lodging during the week after the event.

Thank you all

Arthur.

Hello my fellow martial artist,

I'm Sverre (no&#160;I am not swedish ;p) I am from Holland! 19 years of age now and been doing medieval martial arts for about 6 years now. I am studying International Timber Trade and I&#160;will have to do an internship in sweden for 3 months. But when I graduate I would really like to live in sweden and spend the rest of my life there. BUT&#160;I need a swordfighting school ofcourse. I thought I had to start something up in sweden but apperantly there is luckly a school already, you guys! ^_^ how far are you guys now? With training and stuff? you have maybe some video's I could watch on youtube or something? So I can see your skills?

Cheers,

Sverre

<span id='dnn_ctr409_ArticleDetails_ctl00_lblSubHead' class='Subhead'>Hurry up to register for one of the biggest HEMA events worldwide!

<span id='dnn_ctr409_ArticleDetails_ctl00_lblDescription' class='normalbold'>

Visit:'../../../../../swordfish'>www.ghfs.se/swordfish&#160;

Registration is on a first come first serve basis, you have to register AND pay in order to reserve a place in the classes you wish to attend. It is of course perfectly possible to come to Swordfish and just spar and socialize, without attending classes.

<span class='postbody'><span style='font-weight: bold;'>October 30 (Friday) until November 1st (Sunday), that is over Halloween,

as always the Aktiviteten building will be open starting Thursday afternoon, so you can get settled, start greeting your friends, beat them up and get drunk together as soon as possible.

Greetings all - now I&#160;can spew inane drivel on your forum as well as Matt's!

Anyway, I&#160;am on a quest to find a decent method to modifiy a shinai so that it can be used for Bolognese sword styles - the key point being that you can't put your finger around the quillon on your average single-handed wieghted shinai.&#160; I have a couple of possible designs which, following some discussion with Paul Bennett, don't appear to be practical in wood.&#160; I'm trying to avoid using metal, for the sake of both shinai life and ease of transportation via plane /&#160;Eurostar, so Paul suggested nylon and pointed me in Pentti's direction.

So Pentti, if you currently have the time and the inclination to work on this, could you drop me a PM&#160;so that I&#160;can give you more details and so you can tell me if my ideas are practical or not?

Thanks,

Oli

And what tickles your imagination?

what is it on H.E.M.A screen that you wish to sink your teeth into rigth now?

Personally, I'm keen on getting more sparring practise against different schools. It was realy a pleasant surprise to encoutner MHFS hard hitting style on the last swordfish. (at least up to the point that they hit you!)

after that? hmm making a soft buckler or two, so that we can get som buckler/sword sparring on the move.

Oh.. and lerning more about quarterstaff, daggerfigthing and.. well the list goes on. Hope I get the chanse to do some of it.
