Welcome back to the second edition of the Barcelona Historical Fencing Meeting.
After quite a successful first event with more than 120 participants, we would like to reuse the same formula. We meet for what binds us together- the Sword and the European martial art tradition, using Barcelona as a framework for exchange and fellowship. This new edition also comes with a few new additions to the previous event; workshops will begin on Friday, so we can make the most of our time in the event. We are also happy to announce a longsword tournament.
In this second edition we will have the pleasure of hosting a variety of expert instructors from Spain, Italy, France, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovenia.
We hope to see you all in this year’s edition. Registration will be opened next 2nd of February!

Vi planerar att anordna ett helgträningsläger (lö & sö) för Bolognese Sidesword med Ilkka Hartikainen från Finland här i Linköping.

Eftersom vi är en liten klubb kan vi inte göra det här själva utan behöver få en del deltagare från andra klubbar också, så just nu håller vi på att kontrollera intresset och bestämma exakt datum.

Det blir antingen 7-8 februari eller 14-15 februari. Och priset är preliminärt 450 kr för en dag eller 800 kr för hela helgen.

An Invitation to SWASH 2014

SWASH - The Symposium on the Western Arts of Swordsmanship through History - is the flagship event of the British Federation for Historical Swordplay, and is considered one of the most prestigious Historical Western Martial Art events in the world today.
The Royal Armouries in Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom will once again serve as the magnificent backdrop for this year's event.
Over the course of the Symposium, delegates will get the chance to take part in workshops conducted by some of Europe’s leading instructors of Historical European Martial Arts.
Additionally, there will be lectures and demonstrations as well as private one-to-one training.
And if that is not enough to tempt you, how about VIP hands-on access to some of the Royal Armouries impressive collection of historical artefacts?
Furthermore, there will be opportunities to interact, free-play and exchange ideas, knowledge and methodology with swordsmen from throughout the UK and Europe.

· Second World War Fairbairn Sykes knife fighting
But SWASH is not exclusively about work, research and training, it's also a very social event as well.
There will be an informal drinks reception on Friday evening which all are welcome to attend, while on Saturday evening SWASH will host a Gala Dinner. This grand evening is staged in the War Gallery of the Royal Armouries, offering a unique dining experience shared by a veritable who’s who of the western martial art world in the UK and Europe.
And, best of all, the Gala Dinner is included in the full ticket price for the weekend.
For those only wanting to come for a single day, there is also an option to pay a discounted rate.
We also welcome people from other avenues, so whether you are a re-enactor, sport fencer, martial arts enthusiast or history buff, SWASH has something for you!
